The National Media Museum has been collecting and exhibiting
for 23 years. Until recently it was known as The National Museum of
Photography, Film &
Television. A modern type of museum, it reflects the amazing
developments in communications technology since sound and visual
recording of media reporting first became possible.
Free guided activity sessions for school classes help bring the exhibits to life for young visitors and practical hands-on activities involving replica film studios ensures there is never a dull moment. As well as a film programme in its two cinemas, the museum is also currently hosting two photography exhibitions, one by P.H. Emerson and the other by John Davies. Two more are also planned for the New Year. If you can think of an iconic media moment that would be a great Icon of England you can nominate it on the ICONS site as well.
