Ice Cream Van

Comment on Ice Cream Van

Not only the chimes, but the smell of the earlier soft ice cream vans, which I believe was created by the additional 'Ford' motor to generate the 'Sweda' soft ice cream machine. An outstanding childhood memory. We could smell the van in the next street, even if my friends and me had not heard the Mr Softee jingle.

I'm assuming this was a National company and not just local to the north east (if it wasn't then just include "ice cream vans" per se). All-over pink Bedford CA with cow mounted on the roof! Unforgettable!

This is the sound of my childhood. I guarantee there is nothing more British than the sound of an ice cream van on a summers day.

Don't kow about you... for me > there's nothing quite like the sound of an icecream van on a hot summers day when your only mission is to raz round the neighbourhood on your hand-me-down bike...
