The White Horse, Folkestone

This dramatic hillside carving was created to celebrate the millennium and shows the outline of a horse galloping along the escarpment above the Channel Tunnel. Carvings in chalk are a long-established English custom and the Folkestone horse shows this tradition both continued and updated. Above all it is a joyous and beautiful work of art.
