The ICONS website is committed to maintaining customer privacy and maintaining the security of the strictly limited amount of personal data which you submit to the site.
The ICONS website is committed to responsible data management and subscribes to the principles of data protection legislation in England and the wider United Kingdom.
ICONS Online Limited collects personal information solely to enable site users to take advantage of the following personalisation features on the ICONS website:
- Submitting a comment, review or material
- Opting to receive an email newsletter from the ICONS website
- Voting for nominated icons, or suggesting new nominations
All these features may require the creation of a unique identifier for each user. We may therefore ask users who wish to take advantage of these features to register with us first. Since a valid email address is by definition unique, we will use this to create the identifier for registered users. Email addresses will be checked for validity as part of the registration process. At no point will a registered user's email address displayed on the site or made available to other users.
ICONS Online Limited may also ask registering users to provide a password with which to access their personalised site features.
During registration, users will be able decide whether they wish to receive an email newsletter and/or notification of events and services provided.
Users can sign up to receive our e-mail newsletter by visiting our signup page.
All e-mail communications from us will contain an option to unsubscribe. To unsubscribe directly send an e-mail to info@icons.org.uk.
Users who wish to change their email address will be asked to de-register their old email address.
If you contact us we reserve the right to keep a record of that correspondence and incorporate the information it contains into our ICONS database. The information may be used to:
- Inform you of our work and the different ways in which you can help
- Ask you to support specific activities connected with the ICONS project
Your personal information will not be supplied to any other organisations without your express consent.
Cookies (small nuggets of information that a site plants in your browser) are used when entering the ICONS site to help manage each user's session (that is, their visit to the ICONS site). Information recorded in the cookie may include the location from where each visitor arrived and any details needed to provide the personalisation features described above.
Each web page access is recorded in a log file. The contents of the log file are analysed on a regular basis to determine how many visitors the site serves, what pages they look at most, and from where they connect. This information is aggregated and cannot be resolved down to the level of an individual user.
If you are under 18, please make sure you obtain your parent or guardian's permission before providing personal information to the ICONS site.
If you have any further questions, please contact us at either info@icons.org.uk or ICONS Online Limited, PO Box 303, Brighton BN50 9FL.
From time to time we may conduct marketing activities such as surveys and promotions and may request information from you as part of these. Participation is entirely voluntary and you therefore have a choice whether or not to disclose any information which might be required.
You may also contact us if you wish to have your personal information removed from our database of registered users.
