I read with interest that "an Alice-themed birthday party is suitable for anyone under the age of ten. Or older if you?re strange enough." Well, I just wanted to say that I am currently planning my 30th birthday party as a Mad Hatters Dinner Party and I hope it will be as mad as the original tea party! With teapots and life-size playing cards, cake stands overflowing with jam tarts and flamingo croquet, not to mention the small door guests will have to enter through. Oh, and everyone will have to wear the prerequisite mad hat of course.

to me, the poems are the equal, at least, of the illustrations. they were created long before surrealism raised its pretentious head. "letter to the fish" has a relentless emotional logic despite the complete lack of subject matter.they are also incredibly funny

I made 14 illustrations of Alice in Wonderland and I am working for the moment on paintings of Through the looking-glass. It is such a wonderful story that I still got a lot to paint and I already have 15 paintings.

BECAUSE THE ILLUSTRATIONS OF THEM BY JOHN TENNIEL IN ALICE`S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND ARE NOT ONLY BEAUTIFULLY DRAWN BUT A PERFECT ILLUSTRATION OF SOMETHING VERY ENGLISH.

These great books are quintissentially English. Lewis Carroll gave us so many quirky and delightful characters which still charm us today - theMad Hatter, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, the Walrus and the Carpenter............. How many other books mix mathematics, logic. poetry, nonsense and literature in such an extraordinary way?

WHAT COULD BE MORE ENGLISH THAN A "TEA PARTY" A TEA PARTY WHICH INCLUDED ANYONE WHO IS "MAD" NOW THAT REALLY IS ENGLISH!

Wonderful book, albeit a little strange. One wonders how it affects the mental development of small children.
