Snow
Despite Big Ben's usual reliability, it slowed down on New Year's Eve in 1962 due to heavy snow. This caused it to chime in the new year 10 minutes late.
Chimes
Every day on Radio Four, (home of the Archers) at 6pm, listeners are treated to the chimes of Big Ben. Recent repairs to the bells meant that birdsong was played instead!
