Cheddar Cheese

Cheese connection

It was St Dunstan, arriving in Somerset in AD 945 as the new abbot of Glastonbury, who introduced cheese-making to the area. The earliest confirmed occupation of the site of Westminster Abbey was a Benedictine Abbey set up by St Dunstan in the 960s.

Cheese supply

Scott of the Antarctic took 3500 lbs of cheddar cheese on his famous expedition of 1901.
