I love Doctor Who. I've been watching it a lot and I've seen every single one, even the old ones. It would be the best if they kept coming!

The description of Mickey as the 10th Doctor's assistant is completely inaccurate. He left the TARDIS at exactly the same time as Rose, at the end of series 2, stuck in an alternative dimension. His companion for the 3rd series was Martha Jones a medical student. Who left at the end of series 3. In series 4 he will meet up again with Donna, the titular character from the 2006 Christmas special, 'The Runaway Bride'. Martha will also appear in 3 episodes later in the series, as well as appearing in Torchwood series 2.

Dr Who is growing stronger and better with the new series and the current show has even spun off two new shows; Sara Jane and Torchwood. This is a record in TV industry, as to my knowledge, no other series has created two new series while still in production. The orginal ideal may have come from a Canadian, but it has always been set in England. I definitely think Dr Who is an English icon.

Comment on Doctor Who

It is a symbol of England and an awesome show because it has been running since 1963.

Doctor Who Online (www.drwho-online.co.uk) has been around for over 10 years providing news for Doctor Who. It serves the fan community well with loads of sections and is the only Doctor Who fan site to have the actual actors in their forums!

Comment on Doctor Who

I grew up watching 'Doctor Who' on PBS in America, and as a very young child the program was my introduction to English culture. Later of course I learned about Shakespeare, Jonson, Dickens, and other figures from the country's rich literary history. However, when I finally visited England for the first time and toured the historic sites of London, I must admit that my most visceral thrill was the sight of a blue police box at the entrance to the Earl's Court tube station.

i think Dr Who's incredible ability to be popular in any time and in so many parts of the world, reflects Britain's ability to be both culturally popular with other countries and a main player in the areas of Trade and such.

This should be an icon because it is the longest running sci-fi series in the world and probably the longest running series in england.
