The biggest waste of space I have ever had the misfortune of having to pay for (twenty quid no less). Anyone could build a set of computer controlled greenhouses and fill them with alien plants given enough money, even New Labour!

As an 'icon' it works fine, it would work even better as and icon for a country in a tropical climate. What amounts to a greenhouse housing species of plants that are essentially 'alien' to Britain, does not really strike me as the appropriate candidate for an 'icon of the English environment' An icon for business and ingenuity perhaps, but not the environment.

A vastly over rated site, very expensive and the worst customer care ever experienced.

The eden conceit - spin without substance - more concretery than greenery.

Not particularly "English". This project is almost unheard of in the USA. The structures look to be 'geodesic' : Buckminster Fuller was not English.
