Glastonbury Festival

Ten Top Tips...

For the best Glastonbury Festival - ever!

1. Go without any preconceptions and an open mind - some of the best acts you see will be those you stumble across out of the blue.

2. Pack sunscreen, snazzy wellies (not optional, unless you fancy paying up to £80 for a pair) and a Pac-a-Mac and/or waterproof poncho (which will have the added benefit of keeping your legs dry if it's long enough).

For the girls – packing several pairs of leggings will give you something lightweight, clean and dry for your lower half on a daily basis (jeans once wet, will stay wet and heavy). If it is a wet one, keep smiling and count yourself lucky that you have the opportunity to float through the festival on an inflatable object of your choice and/or mud wrestle.

3. Camp (these tipis, yurts and luxury Winnebagos are for wimps).

4. Although it is handed out (liberally, too) on arrival, take bulk-pack loo roll and be generous with it (in sharing it that is, not whilst fashioning toilet paper boxing gloves). Eco wet-wipes might just be your saving grace and you can never have enough bin bags.

While we’re on the loo subject, indulge in a little 'toilet karma': look after the loos and the loos look after you... Oh, and if you are a 'laydee', check out the She-pees!

5. Soak up the atmosphere and go with the flow, rushing from band to band so you can “tick them off the list” is not the best way to enjoy Glastonbury Festival.

6. Charge your phone at the Chill ‘n’ Charge tent on day one or two – by Sunday EVERYONE’s phone has died and the queue is about 3 miles long. Likewise with cash machines - you will spend most, if not all, of your cash so take out more than enough when you get there.

7. Don’t miss out on the local cider or milk fresh from the farm (which is delivered every morning via a milk van doing the rounds of the site).

Talking of beverages, calling all tea lovers… take a primus stove, kettle and your own teabags – tea is £1.50 a cup from stalls and, more often than not, terrible!

8. Do your bit for the post-festival clean-up by keeping all your rubbish together and taking it to the nearest litter point on your way out. In fact, there are recycling and composting points every few feet, so there is NO excuse.

9. Be sure to visit the festival’s partaking charities – it only takes a minute or two to offer your support and they don’t bite!

10. Soak up the atmosphere and EXPLORE – there is so much to see and do that hanging around near the main stages for the whole time won’t do you or the Glastonbury Festival experience justice, nor will it make you any friends.

But most of all… ENJOY!
