Comment on Globe Theatre
The original Globe, where many of Shakespeare?s plays were first performed, must be the most famous theatre in the world. The rebuilt Globe in Southwark is also one of my favourite buildings in London. It makes the view from Blackfriars Bridge a highlight of every train journey I make into King?s Cross. Surrounded by high-rise monstrosities, it?s a reminder of the London we have lost. It?s also a great place to see a play!

The most important theatre in English history, this theatre was the theatre that saw many of the first public performances of plays by Shakespeare and his contemporaries.

Comment on The Globe Theatre
The determination of the US Actor, Sam Wanamaker, to re-discover Shakespeare's Globe on Bankside in London is exceptional. The Globe Theatre has drawn many visitors to Bankside and been part of the regeneration of the South Bank. In addition, it is a truly spectacular theatre and there is no better place to watch Shakespeare being performed by actors who can really interact with the audience.
