Comment on Hadrian's Wall
It was an amazingly ambitious undertaking that served its purpose for centuries after it was built, and it's a tangible reminder of the early history of Britain.

Comment on Hadrian's Wall
The northernmost frontier of the Roman empire is actually marked by the Antonine Wall, started in 142AD and finished in 144AD. It streches across what is now known as the central belt of Scotland and was under almost constant attack by the Caledonians. Hadrian's Wall was reused as the northern most frontier when the Antonine Wall was abandoned in 164AD.

Comment on Hadrian's Wall
Hadrians Wall is probably the most visible and defining monument of Northern Britain. A world heritage site, it marks forever the fact that Britain was the Northernmost Frontier of the Roman Empire. The wall, and its forts are a valuable source of historical data (eg the Vindolanda tablets).

Hadrian's wall was also used as a brothel for soldiers to get jiggy with Romanian women!
