Things to do
A few suggestions...
- We probably won’t be able to persuade you actually to go off and read The King James Bible, but why not try a bit of it? You’ll find a lot of familiar stories, and it’s not nearly as difficult as you may expect. We’ve compiled a list of passages here – why not give them a try?
- The King James Bible was a 17th century version of the Bible in the language of its time – since then, different people have tried their own version, rewriting parts of it in the language of their own day, or of their own community. So how about doing a bit yourself? Update the language, rewrite it into the sort of language you and your friends use. (If you end up with anything interesting, send it to us here.)
- “Bible-dipping” is used by some people as a way of answering important questions in their lives – ask a question and open the Bible at a random place to see what “answer” it gives you. (Read more about this practice here.) You may find it fun to give this a try, though we can’t guarantee that the “answers” will be right, or even that they will make sense…
- Or, um, you could start your own religion? What would your Holy Book say?
