Lindisfarne Gospels
Cotton Library
The Lindisfarne Gospels, produced in the 7th or 8th century, once belonged in the Cotton Library (an important collection of manuscripts owned by Sir Robert Bruce Cotton in the 16th century). The poem "Beowulf" was also in the collection. It describes many Anglo-Saxon beliefs and culture including ship burial. The burial of Beowulf himself displays similarities with Sutton Hoo.
