Things to Do
A few suggestions - whether you're religious or not.
- Visit your local church and learn about the history behind it.
- Find out about the world's different religions. Click here for an A-Z of religions and beliefs.
- Help raise funds to restore a crumbling church. English Heritage's Inspired! campaign aims to tackle the problems facing
the country’s 14,500 historic places of worship and is supported by
all the faith groups with listed buildings in England. Find out what you can do to get involved here
- Have a go at bell-ringing or brass-rubbing. Some good places to start are the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers and the Monumental Brass Society
- Join a choir and improve your singing voice.
- Have a nose around a churchyard and find out about the people who are buried there. One well-known one is Highgate Cemetery in London, where at least 850 notable people are buried - including Karl Marx and George Eliot. Click here to find out more about Highgate Cemetery
- Draw a painting of your parish church and send them to us, here!
