Museum of Rugby
The ultimate visitor experience for the world rugby enthusiast, the Museum of Rugby is a journey through the history of the sport. Innovative exhibits bring to life some of the great moments in the international game.
Visitors can get up close and personal with the Calcutta Cup, see an England jersey from 1871 (worn at the very first international match), watch footage of some of the greatest tries of all time and even test their own strength on the museum's scrum machine!
You can also follow in the footsteps of your rugby heroes and tour Twickenham Stadium. Soak up the atmosphere in the players' dressing room, see the view from the very top of the North Stand and run through the players' tunnel!
Address: The Museum of Rugby, Twickenham Stadium, Rugby Road, Twickenham
Rugby Art Gallery and Museum
For more than half a century, the city of Rugby has been collecting work by modern artists and the gallery of 20th century British art includes works by Spencer, Freud, Lowry, Hepworth and Sutherland, to name a few.
The museum steers visitors through 2,000 years of Rugby’s history. What is the story behind the school cap? How does the spark plug fit in with the heritage of Rugby? What was life like for Roman residents?
As you walk through the museum, you can share the enthusiasm of the Victorian antiquarian Matthew Bloxam, who began to unravel the mysteries of Roman Tripontium.
Watch the video to find out about the painstaking research that brought the Tripontium collection together, then discover the 2,000-year-old pottery, jewellery and coins in the display.
In the Social History Gallery, reflect on the ups and downs of Rugby at work, at home and in the community over the past 200 years.
