Battle of the Beanfield
In 1985 Wiltshire Police prevented a convoy of several hundred new age travellers from setting up the 14th Stonehenge Free Festival. This became known as The Battle of the Beanfield.
The TARDIS
The most recognisable visual element of "Doctor Who" is the TARDIS – a time machine and spacecraft. Due to budget restraints on the programme, it is in the shape of a 1950s-style London police box.
Alien
In the 1955 sci-fi film "The Quatermass Xperiment", a rocket crew member who has been taken over by some sort of alien life form while in space ends up being chased inside Westminster Abbey! One of the stars was Jack Warner, of the much-loved police TV series "Dixon Of Dock Green".
