Anne Boleyn

Anne Boleyn was Henry VIII's second wife but in 1536 was arrested and charged with treason, and taken to the Tower of London were she was soon beheaded. Legend has it that Henry heard of her execution as he played tennis at Hampton Court Palace.

Hampton Court Palace

Hampton Court was the impressive venue for James I's 1603 conference about the church that led to the commissioning of the King James Bible. Hampton Court is also home to the oldest tennis court in the world – Henry VIII played on it from 1528.
