2. Piglet was originally left out of Disney’s first Pooh film, Winnie The Pooh And The Honey Tree (1966) – and replaced by a gopher. Director Wolfgang Reitherman said Gopher was thought to have a more "folksy, all-American, grass-roots image". After protests, Piglet appeared in the next Pooh film, Winnie The Pooh And The Blustery Day (1968).
3. The Te Of Piglet was written by Benjamin Hoff following the publication of his bestselling book The Tao of Pooh.
4. Piglet spells his name "Piglit", while Tigger says the proper way to spell his name is "T-I-double-guh-err, that spells Tigger”.
5. Kanga is the only female character in the series, other than the occasional appearance of Christopher Robin's mother.
6. Rabbit and Owl are living animals, not stuffed – as can be seen in the illustrations and by Rabbit's comment to Owl: "You and I have brains. The others have fluff."
7. A pop version of AA Milne's poem, Christopher Robin At Buckingham Palace, was released by Petula Clark in 1953.
8. A World Championship chariy poohsticks race takes place annually in Oxfordshire.
9. In April 2006, Winnie-the-Pooh was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
10. Gene Kelly and James Stuart are among the famous names who narrated the Pooh stories on children’s story-telling albums.
