Founded by St Aidan in AD 635, Lindisfarne Priory on Holy Island was one of the most important centres of early Christianity in Anglo-Saxon England. It is still a place of pilgrimage today.

The causeway floods at high tide, so it is very important to check tide times before crossing. April 1 to September 30, daily 9.30am-5pm. October 1 to October 31, daily 9.30am-4pm.
