Comment on The Cornish Pasty

The news about Cornish pasties being protected (hopefully) by the EU is no surprise. How can it be a pasty if it doesn't come from Cornwall?! I make my own pasties (and if you don't yet, there's a reasonable recipe at http://www.cornwallinformation.com/info/cornish-recipes.php) and they are fantastic.

Comment on Anne Hathaway's Cottage

I have an original drawing of Anne's cottage which was drawn around 1920-1925. I was wondering if this has any value, for the purpose of insurance.

Comment on Liverpool Anglican Cathedral

"Ein feste Burg ist unser Gott - A solid fortress is our God" to quote Martin Luther. After 20 years of spiritual journeying I came to see the 'being stone' of this wording. Having seen lots of sacred buildings in my life, the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral really gives me shivers...

Comment on The BBC

I love the BBC, since despite it being a corporation rather than a co-operative as I believe it should be, it still manages to sustain a very diverse range of progarammes to cater for many hundreds of thousands of people, not forgetting of course the World Service which broadcasts to the whole world, not forgetting all the radio and television stations as well as its national Learning Centres, etc... Long live the Beeb!

Comment on Tinsley Cooling Towers, Sheffield

I'm only a teenager but I think I respect things a lot more now as I really dont want the Tinsley Cooling Towers to be torn down because when I see then they make me think of home. They are a great landmark and shoud not be taken off the map. Everytime I go to Meadowhall I look at them and talk about them to my mum. I really love them, it won't be the same without them and to hear the news that they are set to be removed makes me want to cry. I will cry for the towers once they're gone because they're part of my home.

Comment on The FA Cup

The FA cup means a lot to me for a few reasons. We used to go round to my granfather's house to watch the finals in the 1950s and early 60s. All that time Arther Caiger led the comunity singing, he always wore a white top and white trousers (not a boiler suit) and stood on a portable gantry with wheels. Wembley looked great on the television until you went there and then realised it was just a clapped out old stadium.b But I come from Liverpool so when you see your team win the F A cup (a few times) you're not to bothered!

Comment on Liverpool Collegiate School

My Name is Andrew Jones. I attended the school from 1976 to 1981. I left the school without a single exam due to my own lack of hard work. I found the high standards difficult to comply with and was nothing but trouble for staff such as Taffy Edwards and Mr Manning-Fox. I was aware that the school had a long and distinguished history and when on task I enjoyed the classics class and English. The building itself was outstanding particularly the the main hall and the organ which was played at every morning assembly including when we sang the school song in Latin. I remember the day that Leonard Rossiter visited the school as a special guest for prize giving. Although I left the school under a cloud the importance of learning that was instilled into most of the pupils came back to me. I am now a Psychologist which I would not have achieved without the experience of attending the Liverpool Collegiate. Thank you.

Comment on Librarians

I am a librarian, we attempt to provide a wellcoming, peaceful environment that is accessible to all. Shame on all of you who voted for such a narrowminded, stereotypical view. Why should the icon of the information professional (either male or female) be the preserve of this wonderful nation? My colleagues in other countries are both knowledgeable and helpful, encouraging study and learning in students of all ages and disciplines.
