Anfield

The home of Liverpool Football Club is the most iconic sporting arena in the country, and includes the most famous stand in the world (the Spion Kop). This stadium is world-renowned as one that has produced some of the greatest sights and sounds football has ever witnessed. The birthplace of terrace singing in the sixties, through to the tragic scenes during the aftermath of the Hillsborough disaster. Surely there is no more iconic place than this magnificent stadium?

Comment on the Kop. From way before the mania of the sixties, this most famous of football terracing epitomises many of the English traits of humour, patience, good manners and stubbornness.
Duncan Maile

The Kop is a symbol of our national game, played by our most successful team in our most vibrant - and one of our most historic - cities.
