Colchester

Colchester is famous for being England's oldest recorded town (although from time to time this is disputed). It was the first Roman capital of England, burned to the ground in Boadicea's revolt. Humpty Dumpty was allegedly a cannon that was placed on top of the church next to the Mercury Theatre. Old King Cole is also alleged to have been "King of the Colne", the river that runs through Colchester.
