English Lead Crystal Glass

It was invented by George Ravenscroft in 1676, and for over 100 years, England had a complete monopoly as no other country knew the secret formula. It has even entered the language as in talking with a "cut crystal accent"...Sadly most of the famous Stourbrdge makers have closed down but it still adorns the smartest tables around the world whether gilded in the Middle east, plain in Scandinavia, or designed by John Rocha for Waterford. So whether plain or cut it has a ring to it when tapped that resounds!
