Freedom of Speech

Freedom of speech represents an important and inalienable part of England and its history. The right to say those things other people and especially the government don't want to hear is a proud symbol of Englishness. It puts England in stark contrast to former foes such as Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. Without freedom of speech, much of English history would be unthinkable.

Freedom of speech is extremely important to me, and I am afraid that the present government is constantly trying to pass legislation to limit this basic human right. Added to this is the fear inspired by political correctness which prevents people from airing their opinions about important issues.
