Guinness Timepiece

Is this an icon?

or

Guinness Timepiece

Only an Englishman could have thought up this hulking mass of whirring and clunking machinery, bigger and better than the previous Guinness Clock, and then transported it to various places in England where people watched in awe as it did its stuff every 15 minutes. Of course it was forever breaking down so from conception to dismantling in the 1960s was unfortunately a very short time. A lovely memory though from my childhood in Southend-on-Sea!
