Jet Engine

The jet engine has opened up the world to the vast majority of its population. Since its development, it has allowed people to visit parts of the world that they could never have imagined and it has also dramatically changed the commerce and rapid evolution of so many countries. Frank Whittle represents that fantastic engineering skill and perseverance that England has shown the rest of the world over so many years.

My Father worked with Frank Whittle in the development of the Jet Engine at Power Jets, Whetstone, Leicestershire The team then moved to Farnborough. It is a British invention/icon stolen by the Americans. Power Jets became the NGTE in Farnborough and my Father then worked on the development of Concorde, another icon

Frank Whittle invented the jet engine. He had been granted a patent for the first jet engine in1932. The nazi's had access to this knowledge before they built their jet engine.
