A fantastic real ale brewed as it always was in the unique and famous Burton Union system at Marston's Brewery in Burton-on-Trent. Photo: Courtesy Marston's Brewery

Although the comments on Marston's Pedigree are somewhat harsh, some of the positive comments seem to come from employees of the WDB marketing department.

Seems to be a lot of Marston's marketing people on here. If the pint isn't 100% top notch then it smells like my old unwashed rugby shorts. . . . as for an icon . . . I agree a decent pint of real ale is an icon of England. I lived overseas for a few years, and all I yearned for was a decent pint of ale . . . but it wasn't Marstons Pedigree!!!
