Murder Mysteries in Country Villages

The butler did it? Gather everyone together in the drawing room to go through the clues. I'm not talking nasty modern slasher murders, but nice clean Agatha Christie murders. Bunch of toffs at a country pile topping each other between games of croquet. More tea vicar? Mind the arsenic. Generations of English were brought up on it. Why else would The Mousetrap still be going as strong as ever?

Claire Adams

Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie and Colin Dexter are examples of writers who have made the mystery novel a quintessentially English literary genre.
