Winnie-the-Pooh

Winnie-the-Pooh
Edward Bear and Christopher Robin © Estate of E.H. Shepard and Egmont UK Ltd. www.egmont.co.uk

Winnie-the-Pooh, unassuming and modest though he seems, is one of the indestructible characters of English children's literature. Let us take you into Hundred Acre Wood, where he lives with his friends Piglet, Owl, Eeyore, and, of course Christopher Robin, forever bumbling into adventures that he only partially understands.

Pooh owes his visual identity to the great illustrator EH Shepard (as well as, to later generations, the Disney Corporation). And his home looks a little like Ashdown Forest in Sussex, where we'll go exploring and maybe even find the original bridge where Christopher Robin played Poohsticks.
