Timber Frames

The original Shakespeare's Globe theatre had timber frames made of oak.

About 6000 trees were needed to built HMS Victory, and oak trees made up 90% of the wood used.

Major Oak

Robin Hood and his Merry Men are supposed to have hidden from their enemies in a giant oak tree in Sherwood Forest. It weighs about 23 tonnes and is 800-1000 years old!
