The greatest bus design of all time. Would still be going strong if not for Livingstone's U-Turn.

Really enjoyed looking around the bus pages. Have now marked it as one of my favourites. Nostalgia never goes out of fashion. Regards Steve ON THE BUSES fanclub http://www.onthebusesfanclub.co.uk/

Bring back the Routemaster, it'll bring in the cash from tourist. The Routemaster will be nice to use on the number 10 between Dorchester and Weymouth in Dorset, if it runs via Bridport.

This is what I think of when I think of England - the red double decker bus winding its way round London.

The Routemaster (RM) is a symbolic icon of London and England. Contrary to what it says in the official introduction, Routemasters are still in service on the '9' and '15' routes in Central London - favourite tourist routes - and very smartly turned-out they are too. The film 'Summer Holiday' in fact employed the predecessor 'RT' - an icon in its own right.

Comment on The Routemaster Bus

I worked on Routemasters both as a conductor and driver on the 13's and also on RMC's at St. Albans & Hatfield. The bus was clearly designed by the people who had to operate buses rather than a faceless person in an office who thought you will have what we think is good for you. My son and I have a green one and a red one which we take to rallies.
